Mikoshiba playing an otome game on his tv set (gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun) |
The first Otome game I ever played was Destiny Ninja (part 1) from the Shall We Date series, and the character I chose was Yoshitsune Minamoto. I don't really remember if I finished his route but it got me interested in Otome games.
The choices you make will affect the kind of ending you get, so your decisions will decide whether the heroine ends up developing a deeper romantic relationship with the hero or not.
In addition a lot of them also allow you to receive gifts and buy stuff to dress up your avatar.

So it's basically a role playing game. And you can get all these games for free in the google play store.
Here is a short list of my favorite otome games (for girls), and my favorite characters.
1. Midnight Cinderella
Midnight Cinderella was a wonderful one to play. The storyline follows you, as the protagonist, who has been chosen to be the princess of Wysteria. Of course as a new princess, you have dance lessons, history classes and top class social gatherings to attend! In addition to that, you must choose a consort.
With 7 handsome guys (and more being added periodically), you will certainly enjoy this royal romance!
In this game, you get 5 story tickets per day and there are always lots of events for example, for christmas, valentines day and of course for each of their birthdays! This game can be enjoyed free but there are also in app purchases.
So certainly give it a try, but patience is a virtue, I use to look forward for when my story tickets were refilled to read their routes!
Also the in game money (which you can purchase with real money or earn in the game), can be used to buy things, like story tickets, items to overcome challenges which require specific articles and items to help you to make your avatar and his avatar look cuter!
There are also a lot of events happening all the time so it's never a dull game. I'll admit though that this one is a bit more difficult than the others since it may take a while to earn in game cash to overcome the challenges, but it's worth it.
My favorite characters were:
Byron Wagner, the mysterious but romantic king of a country that Wysteria knows very little about. I really loved his route because there were a lot of unexpected surprises, possibly since it wasn't always easy to know what he was thinking and also since he was super majestic and sweet!
Lois Howard; the ice sculpture, as he was called in the game due to his ice-cold personality. However, that made getting to know the handsome duke even more thrilling!
Nico Meier, your attendant and most definitely the most adorable character on the game. I liked his route because the storyline was great and also because he wasn't afraid to show his true feelings (Sorry I have no better pictures of him).
2. Wizardess Heart
The shall we date games are all amazing and this one is probably the one I've played the longest!
It follows you, a young wizardess striving to become a student of the wizarding academy of your dreams, Godenelune royal magic academy!
There you have a lot of fun adventures and unexpectedly get caught up in revealing some of the academy's deepest darkest secrets. Good thing you're gonna have one of these handsome men by your side to help and protect you on these epic adventures!
Wizardess Heart is very similar to Midnight Cinderella since you have to play with tickets, however, you have less of a wait time since one ticket is restored every four hours. You also have an avatar here to dress up and a garden where you can dress both your and his avatar and this game is constantly being updated with events and new characters!
Naturally, there are lots of events in this game as well and just so you know, Shall We Date has a lot of amazing otome games! I have tried and enjoyed a lot of them but Wizardess Heart is my favorite although I loved others as well.
This game, just like Midnight Cinderella, has very amazingly designed graphics
My favorite character in this game thus far has been Klaus Goldstein. He was very calm, cool and confident, but he had a cute flustered side with the protagonist at times. He was also very strict and pushed her to work her hardest to get into the academy. I also really loved how possessive he was.
Caesar Rafael is another character from this game that I liked.
I love how romantic he was. I also love how determined he is to win the protagonist's heart! In addition, he was protective and loving toward her which I also liked.
3. Dream Boyfriend
This one is different from the first two. It is another free to play game and you can play this game comfortably with paying no real money at all. It is a very cute game where, you, the protagonist get caught up in raising a God who is also now your boyfriend.
It is very different because this game, unlike the others isn't exactly a story telling type game as the rest. It starts off with an introduction where you meet your astral boyfriend quite by chance and then you spend the rest of the game dressing him in cool outfits. Going on dates to change his personality and sending him to work to earn coins and other cool in-game items like tickets which can be used to personalize him further.
This game also has a lot of amazing events and even moving outfits. You can also chat with your boyfriend which is another cool feature in this game!
You can make friends, dress up boyfriends of your friends or random people and participate in events.
It's a really great casual game and I like it since it doesn't really require a lot of time. Of course, you do have use stamina to talk to your boyfriend and move ahead in the events but it is a blast!
4. Situation Boyfriend
Situation Boyfriend is another different kind of otome game.
I found situation boyfriend when I was looking for a sleepytime boyfriend game.
Basically it's a game where you hear sweet nothings from your chosen character! It's actually a really nice one before going to sleep since their voices are usually calm and soothing.
Of course they are voiced by voice actors and it's in japanese with with english translations but they're worth listening to.
They have many kinds of boyfriends to choose from in this game and you can watch ads to earn coins to buy more scenarios. The amount of coins per ad varies though. They also have free ones to listen to which is also very enjoyable.
My favorite boyfriend was the overprotective boyfriend, Kaito Ishikawa.
I also liked the Sweet Boyfriend Yuiichirou Umehara.
I am sure you'll enjoy all of the ones I've mentioned because the heroes are really sweet but remember you have to be 17 and over to play some of these!
I have actually played more than those on this list and not all otome games have avatars to dress up or challenges to overcome (if you don't have a lot of time). However, I do believe that these are some of the nicest ones to get your heart racing.
Happy Valentines Day! ❤❤❤
