Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru

After watching Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudoubu, I got all fired up about sport anime so I tried this one next, and oh my, if only words could describe the feeling I had watching Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru!

Even if you've never watched a sport type anime in your life before, or you're looking for a new one to watch, I highly recommend this one. It was just, awe inspiring!

This anime was quite the emotional joyride; the smiles, the tears, the cheering them on! I was literally talking to my screen during this anime, and praying that they would make it, that's how much it pulled me in.

Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudoubu, or Run with the Wind, at first made me wonder if I would stick to the series, but honestly, it took, probably only hours, to finish this series.
Just yesterday I finished Tsurune; that one was 13 episodes, and I took probably 3 days!
I started this one yesterday, there were 23 episodes, and I'm done.

This anime was breathtaking, no pun intended. Honestly, it really is an anime that keeps you at the edge of your seat! The characters were so easy to fall in love with, the story-line was so well thought out and relatable, even if you're brand new to competitive running, you're sure to find some piece of yourself in this anime series.

It all begins as Haiji Kiose, recruits Kakeru Kuruhara, when he sees him running away, after he stole some food from a grocery. Haiji, immediately follows the swift Kuruhara on his bike and asks him the following; "You like running?" Haiji then invites him to the Chikuse-so dorm where he and 8 others lived.

Turned out Chikuse-so was a dorm for the athletic team of their university, and Kuruhara was the lucky 10th member Kaiji was waiting for! He needed 10 runners in order to have the bare minimum to run in the prestigious Hakone Ekiden.

There begins the building of this awkward, but determined team of runners. Of course, none of them were on board at first, since none of them even knew that Chikuse-so was a dorm for the athletic club.

It took a while to get them all on board, but eventually they begin preparing to enter the Hakone Ekiden.
It was quite interesting to watch them battling their weaknesses and their coming together as a team, although most of them were amateurs, in order to accomplish one common goal.

Honestly, I felt so in tune with the characters, I felt like I was running myself. There was fun and laughter, sorrow and tears. Each character having their own lives and their own reasons for running.
It really was a great series.

There were lots of  encouraging moments as well and while I won't share them, I can say that the story that these 10 young men shared, was the story of a lifetime. Definitely watch it if you need some motivation or if you just want to feel something. You won't regret it!
